I have been looking forward to this day for over a year. The true mark of spring, and the reward for all the hard work my folks and I did to get this far.
The forsythia woke up last night! These are just the earliest blooms, but I think they are gorgeous in a wee and subtle way.
[And, yes, the roof is my next house project.]
I have not seen these bushes in full bloom since
we Pop planted them a couple of years ago. During their first full winter, they were crushed by 6′ of snow, and I was not here last winter. Thank you, Mother Nature, for giving me such a brilliant display this year!
There are some new additions to my front garden this year as well. I bought a variety of bulbs last summer but didn’t get them into the ground until late December/early January. I was sure they did not have enough time in the ground to do whatever it is they do down there, but I guess I was wrong. I found these little beauties as well this week .
I didn’t pay attention to what I was planting where. And since I’ve never dealt with bulbs before, I don’t recognize any of them. So I’m just going to make a wild guess at this time and say muscari (left), crocus (right), and tulip (below left).
If anyone actually knows the answer, please chime in. Or not. I love surprises and don’t mind waiting to find out in person.
