Switching Gears

Yes, I’m still taking a break with this blog. But since the space is already reserved, I might as well use it to shamelessly promote my sketchbook blog.

I haven’t been feeling very chatty these days, but I am being modestly productive in other ways.  I’ve gotten my project list down to just a few items, and I’m just ignoring everything else. My biggest dilemma these days is choosing between drawing and painting.  If my life would always stay this simple, I’d be one happy girl.

Painting #3

I’ve focused on painting these last few weeks. 4 in production thus far – two old, two new.  I’m happy with each one, but I’m particularly amused by my latest one (left).  This is only the underpainting, so its just a rough “sketch” and quite a bit off kilter. But I dig it for two reasons. 1) I love the subject (and if you know anything about Staunton, I hope you recognize it and like it as well) and 2) I’m only using two colors – teal and orange.  For someone who loves color as much as I do, you’d think I’d prefer working with a large palette.  It’s just too overwhelming.  They tend to get muddy and clash. Probably just my technique, but there you go.

Anyway, I didn’t come here to chat. I just wanted to share my latest project and post something so my momma doesn’t think I’m pushing up daisies.

    1. I know! It’s taking me forever to finish it (more steps backward than forward lately), but it will get done. Eventually.
