I’d like to start by saying “THANK YOU!!” to everyone who has bothered clicking on my blog link this past year. Why anyone would listen to me whine and complain ad nauseam and still come back for more is a mystery. Something must be seriously wrong with you. But I truly appreciate your support!
I’ve been at my new job for almost a month now and have to say – I don’t remember ever being this content. Every aspect of it is perfect for me. I feel the peace down to my bones and the joy radiating from my skin. And even if – God forbid – something were to happen to this position, I am 100% committed to staying in the non-profit sector. It took a long time to get here, but I’m here to stay.
Now that I’m stable again, I’m getting back into my happy little routines – my favorite of which is Saturday morning. Kathy’s for biscuits, coffee and a book; Milmont for new plants (4 little mums, purchased and planted); the Cheese Shop for bulk nuts, seeds, flour and herbs; the farmers market for greens; and – my newest addiction – Goodwill for deals (two shirts/$5). And all within my budget. It’s just now noon, and I’ve had a perfectly perfect day so far.
It was while driving from the country back into town that I remembered this blog. Simple Living in a Complicated World. Silly tagline, I know, but I had to name it something. And it really is how I live. How I managed to make even my simple life so complicated these past few years is beyond me. I’m going to blame it on all the bad mojo out there and leave it at that. I’m ready to get back to business.
I’m nearly settled in my job and my finances – while paltry – are in check. Time to tackle projects again, including the kitchen renovation. I’ve always prided myself for being crafty and frugal, but this will be a doozy! And I’m sure I’ll love every minute of it.
But first, there’s fall. Leaves are turning, the nights are cooling, and the days are getting shorter (aargh). I realize that fall foliage pretty much looks the same year after year, but that doesn’t stop me from going all gooey inside. Be prepared for a stream of photos headed your way.
I almost forgot! Family came to visit last weekend (and drink and eat and drink). We started at Veritas for a wine tasting, then Blue Mountain Brewery for food and beer. On the way home, I swung by Afton Vineyards since it had been while since I last visited. The wine there wasn’t overly impressive, but the setting was quite beautiful. My photo efforts were pretty shameful that day, though I did manage a couple of shots. I will hit a few more wineries in coming weeks and take better shots. I’m selfless like that.
